About Us

Empowering Voices.

Breaking Barriers.

Strengthening Democracy.

As the local chapter of the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), RevUP Vermont is a community of advocates dedicated to ensuring our democracy is accessible to everyone. We build the power of the disability vote by increasing civic engagement and removing hurdles to election accessibility for every Vermonter.

Our Goal: One Ballot, Every Town.

Ending the barrier of required floor-vote Town Meetings

Vermont currently ranks 49th in the nation for disability voting access, a reality we are committed to changing. Right now, 68% of Vermont towns rely on floor-vote systems for municipal decision-making. For many voters with disabilities, this process is fundamentally inaccessible—creating barriers that exclude them from having a say in their own local government.

Our mission is clear: we are working to move every one of these towns to the Australian ballot.

By making this transition, we ensure that every citizen can exercise their right to vote privately, independently, and on their own schedule, just as they do in state and federal elections. This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about democratic equality.

Casting a Ballot

A Seat at the Table for All.

Building Disability Power

We organize and mobilize to ensure our community has a seat at the table. By training advocates and connecting voters with policymakers, we turn individual voices into a powerful, collective force for change in Vermont.

Expanding Civic Engagement

Voting is just the beginning. We provide the tools, information, and community support needed to stay engaged year-round—from registering to vote and understanding your rights, to tracking legislation that impacts our lives.

Strengthening Civil Rights

We defend the rights of Vermonters with disabilities by advocating for inclusive policies and challenging barriers to equality. Our community stays informed and united to ensure that our fundamental rights are protected in every corner of the state.

“ Advocacy is a Way of Life. It is a Natural Response to the Injustices and Inequality in the World. ”
